An estimated 150,000 visitors are expected in Indianapolis this weekend. Being the first host city to implement a Super Bowl Social Media Command Center, staff members will be prepared to answer any visitors’ questions via social media sites like Twitter.
Sixteen full-time Raidious employees and 30 volunteers have been managing a blog and the Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Foursquare accounts for Super Bowl XLVI. Although it’s only Wednesday, tweets, Facebook posts and YouTube videos have already been published online.
Super Bowl XLVI’s Twitter account, @superbowl2012, is full of tweets which will hopefully answer some visitors’ questions prior to Sunday. Some tweets include: interactive maps of parking options, ways to receive traffic updates and Indianapolis food truck options.
Because it’s days before the Super Bowl, a lot of the social media content pertains to the NFL Experience and Super Bowl Village which both hold events and activities the week before Super Bowl Sunday.

Behind the Tweets
The Super Bowl Host Committee hired Raidious, an interactive marketing company which produces and manages content for brands, to oversee Super Bowl XLVI’s social media presence. According to its website, Raidious “makes the content that makes digital marketing work.”Practice Makes Perfect
Raidious has tested out its social media strategies on other sporting events, such as the NCAA basketball tournament and a football national title game, to better prepare for this Sunday. According to an ESPN article, the president of Raidious “is confident his team is prepared to handle the NFL's biggest week.”
